An excellent stop-motion puppet animation film made by one of the best Czech animators ,Jiří Trnka. It is a series of six legendary episodes involving heroes, queens and kings based on Alois Jirásek’s book Old Czech Legends, a compendium of Czech myths. Trnka’s use of camera movement, lighting, set design, character design and animation, general storytelling and poetic vision made this one of the most influential movies in the history of animation.
